SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.//** * CS39000-HC0: Introduction to Human-Computer Interaction \\ MWF 9:30-10:20 Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is an interdisciplinary field spanning computer science, cognitive psychology, and other areas. This course introduces the fundamental principles underlying the interaction between humans and computers. Homework assignments and projects include the design, implementation, and evaluation of computer-based interfaces. Possible text (but not yet confirmed): //Interaction Design: Beyond Human-Computer Interaction//, 3rd Edition. Sharp, Rogers, and Preece. Wiley 2011. Prerequisites: CS core (through CS25200). ====== Teaching Fall 2011 ===== * CS39000-CP0: Competitive Programming This one-credit course is a weekly, three-hour laboratory. It emphasizes the transition from problem statement to algorithm to code. This year there will be a wider variety of problems to accommodate different skill levels. The top students will compete in the regional ACM programming contest held on Saturday, October 22nd. Following the traditional algorithm competition, we will complete the semester with a "king of the hill" style ladder competition (last year it was the ICPC snowball fight simulation, http://queue.acm.org/icpc/). * CS49000-HCI: HCI Issues and Implementation (from spring 2011, now independent study projects) * CS49000-CSM: Computer Science Methods spring 2011 flier ====== Harris Video Wall in the Lawson Commons ======= * Equipment and InfoCaster software donated by Harris Corporation. * Cameras: Facing South (toward the wall), Facing North (toward the audience), and Overview * Original equipment list (png file) * Shipping status of video wall equipment list * 4x4 grid of 46" LCD displays: NEC X462UN * NEC Wall Calibrator * Early block diagram of video wall equipment (courtesy Brian Board). * Harris InfoCaster User Guide * Project code site ====== Projects and Notes ======= * Joel on Software has a tutorial on Mercurial, much of which also applies (in concept) to Git * Instructional Resources * CS4EDU: Computer Science for Education * Eclipse and C/C++ under Windows * Android Phone Notes * Adobe Connect Setup * Using Subversion in CS at Purdue * Purdue Password Expiration Rules * Hare Voting Procedure * Name Pronunciation Guide * Wiki Setup * Trac Installation Notes from Ethan Blanton * Annual Staff Review * Departmental Data Sources ====== Miscellaneous Links ====== * Recent Teaching History * Microcontent: How to Write Headlines, Page Titles, and Subject Lines * AS&U Design Award received by Gibraltar Design for the Lawson Computer Science Building. * TopCoder Competition at Purdue * Welsh "Old Country" Cookies * Gooey Fudge Oatmeal Bars * My PGP key * My Facebook profile * My Family Tree * Purdue CS CGI environment //Note: I removed OpenID access until a newer version is released.//
